*We live in a fraught and perilous time, and powerful people really do want to capitalize on this situation to enrich themselves at our expense. It’s a brutal thing to think about and frankly, it’s no wonder that it turns some of us into swivel-eyed loons.*

MediumThe Swivel-Eyed Loons Have A Point - Cory Doctorow - MediumBy Cory Doctorow

@Coolmccool @pluralistic
Links to Medium never work for me - using the Android app. They go to the home page, or whatever it's called.

@godzero @pluralistic That link works for me - using the app. So I reckon it's a paywall issue. Apologies.

There *used* to be a feature on Medium where you could share a link with non-Medium-members, but I don't see it now. Apologies again.

HOWEVER you *can* read Cory Doctorow's @pluralistic articles FREE and without ads at pluralistic.net/

That particular article isn't up there yet (maybe tomorrow?) but there's *heaps* of other good stuff.

I completely recommend it.

I'm no longer a Medium subscriber so that's probably it. They "refreshed" the app a couple of years ago and broke or removed various functions which I used a lot. I let my sub expire.
I'll go to pluralistic instead.
Thanks.

@Coolmccool @pluralistic I love the arbitrary, all-by-itself "protect" at the end of the penultimate paragraph. It's like a not-so-subconscious suggestion, like it's being whispered at full volume, if that makes any sense.
